After 5 hours trip in Malacca, I would stay in Kuala Lumpur because my flight to Jakarta would departure from Kuala Lumpur on tomorrow afternoon. In addition to got time for explored some places in Kuala Lumpur, I also felt more calm because I was near KLIA.

I’ve booked Hotel Pudu 88 near Puduraya Bus Terminal.

First step,  Of course I must go back to Melaka Sentral to got bus to Kuala Lumpur. To returned to Melaka Sentral, I used easy way …. I went back to starting point when I dropped by panorama bus at Bangunan Merah, Malacca. Long enough waiting for the bus …. almost 30 minutes,  a bus actually came.

Surely this bus took me around Malacca first then got back to Melaka Sentral. So during in bus, I could use the time to saw hustle-bustle of Malacca.

    Panorama Bus Melaka

New model panorama bus …. when departing I rode old model one

By paying 2 Ringgit, I long enough rode around Malacca with this bus. After 45 minutes finally I arrived at Melaka Sentral.

When arrived at Melaka Sentral, I directly headed to Inter City Bus Terminal.

    Terminal Bas Antara Negeri

I just followed this sign to found a bus to Kuala Lumpur.

No long searching, finally I found intercity bus ticket counters.

    konter Bus ke KL

Didn’t worry…. a lot of buses options and prices …. just choosed …. Bus would departure every 30 minutes.

I got out of terminal room to saw some good buses to rode. Actually all buses were similar and I thought all buses were comfort. So I decided to grabbed fastest bus that would be departed.

Finally I bought Mayangsari bus ticket that would depart at 15:15. I must be hurried by bus timer because bus would depart in 2 minutes. Pity man who queued behind me, he couldn’t get a ticket and must wait for half an hour again.

I ran to bus and finally got a backseat, the seat number that I got wasn’t matching with seat number on ticket. I asked to ladies who sat on the middle seat….then a gentlemen behind them told me to sat anywhere …. It was free. Oh, that was the rule. Because available seat was at back, so that was my seat.

Cheap…. only 10 ringgit could move from Malacca to Kuala Lumpur

I didn’t know which way this bus was passed…. actually 2 hours later I arrived at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS).

The first impression of seeing TBS was very amaze, for fist time I looked a large and clean bus terminal. Also LED information board was very large size for bus terminal standard.

    Left Top: arrival hall
    Left Lower: ticket counter
Right top: Arrival and Departure Information Board

Right Lower: A guide sign to LRT network and KLIA Express train

Because this is an integrated bus terminal and train line to down town, So my eyes were carefully sweeping all information boards to get direction to Bandar Tasik Selatan station that was integrated with Terminal Bersepadu Selatan.

Both Terminal Bersepadu Selatan and Bandar Tasik Selatan Station are connected by a bridge aisle above road.

After arrived at Bandar Tasik Selatan Station, I bought ticket at an automatic ticket machine for 3 ringgit towards Plaza Rakyat Station because Hotel Pudu 88 is near it. LRT that I rode was Sri Petaling Line.

Got off at Plaza Rakyat Station, I must turn around UTC (Urban Transformation Centre) Pudu Sentral through a long hallway.

After reached end of block, I turned to walk through Pudu Street. After short walking, I saw Puduraya Bus Terminal at right side.

After passed Puduraya Bus Terminal along 250 meters finally I found Hotel Pudu 88.

5 hours opportunity was very precious time for me to enjoying beauty of Malacca, Malaysia.

Because didn’t want to lost this moment, then I well prepared itinerary from Jakarta.

After struggled to got a bus from KLIA2 to Malacca and after successfully swept some landscapes around Malacca Dutch Square, then I would continue my adventure to visited other places in Malacca downtown by walk.

Departed from Melaka 0 Mile point, I spent little time to saw lines of Portuguese Wall at t-junction after Melaka 0 Mile. These ruins were well hedged for site maintenance. Malaysia government is seriously working on their tourism that ably contributes revenue about 18 billion dollars per year.

    Jajaran Tembok Portugis Melaka

Malacca city wall is Malacca defence wall in the 16th century

Oh yes …. My main visit aim at the moment were St. Paul Church, A Famosa Fort, Malacca River Cruise and Jonker Street.

Okay, I will tell one by one.

    Towards St. Paul Church

To found this church, I found direction sign that made me easily where to took a direction. This direction sign is at t-junction south of Melaka 0 Miles.

    tanda ke bukit st paul

Walking in Malacca must skillful to find a sign like this. This can make tourists easily to explore Malacca.

Walk about 100 meters, I found Muzium Senibina Malaysia (Malaysia Architecture Museum).Muzium Senibina Malaysia

Established by Dutch Colonial in the 18th century, this building was used as office of Malacca Water Board.

Walked straight through this museum about 50 m, I finally found a sign to St. Paul Church that directing me to turned left through a small open door on edge of Kota Street.

    Tangga ke Bukit St Paul

This row of stairs is one of several accesses to the church

A number of stairs were high enough waiting in front of  my eyes. There wasn’t other way except climbed stairs one by one ….. Just did it, hahaha …. Many tourists who exhausted and rest at edge of stairs.

As soon as I reached to upper stair, I was amazed to a view of ocean and white neat rows of houses and stores.

    Pemandangan Laut Lepas

If you want to see beauty of Malacca from above … just need to ride that Malacca’s Menara Taming Sari ….

Finally I reached top of St. Paul hill and started to entering courtyard outside St. Paul Church. Intentionally I didn’t directly get inside of church to enjoyed beauty of this building from outside.

    Gereja St Paul Outside

Left: St. Paul’s Church front view  ;  Right: St. Paul’s Church back view

After satisfy enjoyed outside of building, I started to got inside. Here’s inside of St. Paul Church.

    interior st paul

    Above: Inner wall of church
Below: Gravestones were laid against church wall

After explored inside of church for 20 minutes, I decided to got down soon because I realized that my times wasn’t much. I got down stairs to got back to Kota Street.

    Towards A Famosa Fort

Continued trip along Kota Street which had been interrupted by visiting St. Paul Church. After walked about 15m, I passed Muzium Islam Melaka (Malacca Islamic Museum).

    Muzium Islam Melaka

Originally the building was office of Malacca Islamic Council.

Walked again about 75m, I found some following museums:

    Muzium UMNO

UMNO Museum (United Malays National Organization), Malaysia’s largest political party that dominated power since Malaysia’s independence

    muzium setem malaysia

    Malaysian stamp museum

    Muzium Dunia Islam

This museum explains spread of Islam in the world, important Muslim figures and some important Islamic buildings.

It didn’t take longtime to reached the A Famosa Fort. It was only about 300m from St Paul’s Church entrance.

Here is the beauty of A Famosa Fort: A Famosa 1

A Famosa Fort left front view

    A Famosa 2

Fort A Famosa Fort front view

Entering fort inside, tourists are welcomed by singer with live western songs. His performances was quite entertaining in middle of sun heat.

I talked to Mr. Yusuf, he was a local tourist from Sabah who was on work duty to Malacca and he took a time to picnic.

The natural peeling fort wall shows how it is sturdy as 507-year-old building.

Some informative parts make me amazed for a moment

    A. Famosa 3

Actually this fort was built by Alfonso D’Alboquerque who originally came to Malacca just for free captives.

D’Alboquerque itself is very famous in Maluku, Indonesia because once sent a troops to found spices there.

It was already 12:10, it was time for me to left A Famosa Fort for Melaka River Cruise.

Towards Malacca River Cruise and Jonker Street

Moving from Fort A Famosa, I just realized that this fort was opposite a mall

    dataran pahlawan

Dataran Pahlawan Mall is a popular place for shopping at Bandar Hilir, Malacca

Walking along Kota Street that was built from pavling block arrangement in daylight required me to drank lots of mineral water to keep my body from dehydration.

Walking along 200 m, I found Taman Kenderaan Sejarah Melaka.

    taman kereta

I think it’s a paid playing park for children in Malacca.

After walking for 10 minutes, I reached the edge of Malacca River. Before enjoying the beauty of Malacca River, I took time to visit Bastion Middleburg.

    benteng dekat river

Built by British colonials, this building had function as trading supervision centre in Malacca at the time

And at next to this building is Malacca River.

    melaka river

This river is an important trade route in the 15th century

After seeing Melaka River Cruise activity, my stomach began to rumbled and it was time to had a lunch and ended my adventure in Malacca.

Intentionally I would search lunch menu on Jonker Street. After crossing the bridge that connects between both Malacca river side, I passed this point

    jonker street

In Dutch period, Jonker Street was settlement of Dutch officials. But after Dutch didn’t govern, Jonker Street became settlement of merchants and wealthy businessman.

I began to focus on finding halal food. It was hard to found halal food on Jonker Street but that didn’t mean it didn’t exist.

After 2 blocks I found a food stall owned by a Malaysian Moslem and plastered halal logo. Finally I got inside to ate and closed my trip in Malacca.

    lunch melaka

    Lunch for 10 Malaysian Ringgit

Well, my 5 hours trip in Malacca was over…. It was time to return to the capital of Malaysia i.e Kuala Lumpur for continued  my exploration of Malaysia.

Here are sights that can be found in Dutch Square, Malacca, Malaysia.

    Venue Sekitar Clock Tower

This map is a 360 degree spot where you can see several venues directly without moving

    1. Bus Dropping Point

March 17th, 2018. My travel reached Malacca Dutch Square already told in article “Bus from KLIA 2 to Malacca, Malaysia”.

Panorama Bus No 17 from Melaka Sentral drop me here:

    Drop from the Bus

Tourism buses and city buses drop off passengers here.

Because this point is a crowdest point, so many police standby here to make sure cars or buses don’t stop too long here.

Resident names this area as Bangunan Merah. So you just say to bus driver “drop me at Bangunan Merah “. All colours are red, from building wall until brick road.

    2. Malacca Clock Tower.

After getting off the bus, first stands out is the tall red tower. This tower is known as Malacca Clock Tower. It has three tiers of building with big clock on all four sides. The tower was built by a Chinese Malaysian millionaire.

    Clock Tower

132 years old, this building still looks sturdy

    3. “I Love Melaka” Spot

    I Love Melaka

Queue for long time here …. the queue was always snatched by  impatient tourists….

It is located below of Malacca Clock Tower and it’s always be a tourists target for picture hunting. Taking picture in this spot, can prove that you are in Malacca.

    4. Queen Victoria Fountain

This fountain was built to commemorated the 60 years of Queen Victoria holding the throne of British Kingdom. The construction was done 4 years after 60 years of Queen Victoria became king i.e in 1901.

    Victoria Regina fountain2

Arguably this is a original trace of British Colonial in Malacca.

    5. History and Ethnography Museum

This building is a Dutch Colonial relic. Was built in mid-17th century, this building was once used for Dutch government buildings in Malacca. The original name of this building is Stadthuys and it’s a mark of Portuguese conquest by the Dutch in Malacca.

    stadhyus

    6. Malacca Christ Church

Goverment strategically, Christ Church was built to commemorate centenary of Malacca conquest from Portuguese Colonial by Dutch one. But functionally, Christ Church was built because the active church was very old at that time. That’s St. Paul Church on St. Paul hill.

    Christ Church

Numer 1753 above church building shows the year of construction

    7. Balai Seni Lukis Melaka (Malacca Art Gallery).

This two-tiers building is used for 2 different museums. The first floor is used for Muzium Belia Malaysia (Malaysia Youth Museum), while the upper floor is used for Balai Seni Lukis Melaka (Malacca Art Gallery).

    Balai Seni Lukis Melaka

AD 1931 …. In that year the building was originally an Anglo-Chinese school building.

    8. Malacca Dutch Square Windmill

Windmills has size less than 1/10 of normal size. It was also built as a mark of Portuguese conquest by the Dutch. Such as the historical function of Stadthuys.

    dutchmil

    9. Melaka 0 Mile

It is the center of Malacca. So all distance in Malacca city is measured from this point.

    Melaka 0Km

Okay …. other spots in Malacca city, I will tell in next article ….

  • This was my latest traveling, exactly 1,5 months ago. For departuring, I entrusted to Malaysia Air Asia AK 383 with Airbus A320. Thankfulness was I would taste Departure Hall Terminal 3-Ultimate (3U) Soekarno Hatta International Airport for first time.

Finally, I had arrived at Terminal 3U on 11 pm after 1 hour trip by DAMRI bus from Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal, East Jakarta. Because of web check-in yet, then I directly went to Gate 6. This Gate before used by AK 383 at 00:50, was used for China Southern Airlines boarding to Shenzen, China since an hour earlier.

Plane looked old aircraft. But I believed to AirAsia maintenance. After flied 2 hours, I landed again at KLIA 2 for seventh time. Indeed KLIA 2 succeed to captured passengers for transited or visited there.

Before I departed to Malacca, I had breakfast at NZ Curry House in 1st floor. MYR 9 was enough for paid fried rice and Malaysian O tea

After Subuh prayer and toilet activities, I immediately looked for Transnasional bus tickets on 1st floor:

    Konter Bus KLIA2

    Long queue….

    ticket Bus KL Melaka

Not a Transnasional bus that I got ….. but Star Mart Express with price about MYR 24.3.

You needs to know that gates for waiting a bus in KLIA2 consists 3 doors i.e Door 1, Door 2 and Door 3. And after exit from door, you will find some shelters i.e A01, A02, A03 etc … B01, B02, B03 and so on. And for my trip to Malacca, I needed to waited on Door 1 Shelter A01.

    Bus Star Mart

Bus came at 07:45 (late for 15 minutes) and bus departed at 7:55 to Malacca.

    Bus Star Mart interior

Before entering into bus, bus staff would tear tickets one by one.

Bus interior are very convenient. consist of 3 chairs per row.

Along the way, amount of passanger would be checked by timer staff in certain area wasn’t far from KLIA2.

Traffic was arguably very fluent. Trip about 135 km was covered within 2 hours.

Then where will you be dropped?

Yup , you would dropped in Melaka Sentral, exactly passengers will be dropped here:

    Melaka Sentral

Then just walked to nearest door, then you automatically got into Melaka Sentral building.

This is one of Melaka Sentral corner:

    Melaka Sentral2

    Iconic view inside Melaka Sentral

Then looked for waiting room of City Bus Terminal . This is city bus lounge in Melaka Sentral i.e Panorama bus:
    Melaka Sentral3

Quiet but comfortable, air conditioned and clean rooms

And Panorama bus that leads to center of Malacca is panorama bus no. 17. If you rush to Bangunan Merah, I suggest to takes immediately a bus that already standby. Because I was preoccupied taked some photos here, I let Panorama bus no 17 went away, and finally I must wait next arrival bus for long time, almost 30 minutes. You should wait it near this number sign:

    Melaka Sentral4

And you have to pay MYR 2 only for a trip from Melaka Sentral to Bangunan Merah (Malacca’s Clock Tower).

    ticket Bus KL Melaka2
Then how is excitement in Malacca? 5 hours of very memorable adventures.

I would write in next article…… thanks, guys.

    Phnom Penh Route2

Cambodia, arguably this was my starting point to seriousness to be a backpacker. And this trip became my first parallel trip because before visiting Cambodia I transited at Singapore and after Cambodia I would visit Vietnam and transited once again by Tiger Air at Singapore before returning to Jakarta.

I still remembered, I must bought Jet Star ticket at official agent because I didn’t have a credit card …. very late to have a credit card.

After transited and got around Singapore on previous day, at 13:25 Jet Star flight 3K 593 took off leaving Changi International Airport from Terminal 1 and I landed smoothly at Phnom Penh International Airport, Cambodia.

    konter imigrasi phnom penh

Cambodian immigration counter …. I was embarrassed …. I was being scolded by immigration officer for taking this photo …. I didn’t saw “No Camera” sign

For your information, In 2015, Cambodia had bus as public transportation for the first time. Cambodia government bought several used buses from Japan. And at every bus shelter were guarded by their soldiers. Before they had public bus, their public transportation were Tuk Tuk and Taxi.

And finally, I preferred to chose a Tuk Tuk, because my browsing conclusion before the trip said there was no bus route to the airport.

    100_2109

USD 10 …. fit for 5 peoples …. dusty road … 40 minutes for reached to city center.

I asked to Tuk Tuk driver to dropped us near National Museum, because route from National Museum to dormitory would pass through some interesting venues. This was special benefit…. so while I walked to dormitory, I would see them. Oh yes, for 2 hours I would walk as far as 2 km while enjoying afternoon view and took some interesting pictures. This is it….

    National Museum

Walking at Phnom Penh started from this point …. National Museum

    Kingdom Square

Walking for 350 metres  from National Museum to southeast, you would see Royal Palace Park. Their royal square

    Pertigaan

Well,  that was City Courthouse …. Their District Court …. 300 m at south of Royal Palace Park

From City Courthouse, I saw city park that was very wide. This park connects the Royal square and Independent Monument at south. The park name is Wat Botum Park

The Park along 500m was very crowded during afternoon. Many citizen came just  for hanged out, exercised, also some expatriates took his dog for walk or some people who enjoy street culinary.

    Taman arah hotel
    Aktivitas

citizeb activities around Wat Botum Park

At end of the park I met Preah Suramarit Boulevard road then I turned right. Walking for 350 m, I found statue of King Norodom Sihanouk-Cambodia legendary leader-.

    100_2145

I sat at Father King Norodom Sihanouk statue

From this statue, I walked straight to west then I found Cambodia Independence Monument. This was like Monas at Jakarta.

    Independence

    Independence Monument

From Independence Monument, I  tried to remembered while expolored this area by google map at Jakarta. I should walk to west and turned left at second alley from Preah Sihanouk Boulevard road. And I found quickly …. this was it

    Top banana2

Dormitory bed at Top Banana Guesthouse & Rooftop Bar for USD 6 / night without breakfast

When I booked it in Booking.com, I was not so sure about guesthouse comfortable. But after arrived at destination, actually it very exceeded my expectation. It was really cool guesthouse. I was thirsty, very panting after walked for 2km with full backpack. Ms. receptionist was very kind for prepared cold drink …. very fresh….. and I treated in their bar room while checked in. And the bar was very crowded until morning.

In dormitory I met Sam-an Australian Moslem- and two tourists from Netherlands and France.

After took a bath, I started to looking for dinner. This was time to tasted thier traditional food …. this was it:

    amok

Amok …. is a kind of fish dish poured in coconut milk and poured in coconut shell.

The food was USD 4 and after dinner I decided to immediately slept, because I would walk early morning tomorrow and would move to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam on afternoon.

The 2nd day trip at Cambodia would continue in my next article ……

I was confidence to got into the bus in front of the mosque and sat behind the bus driver, I just more talked to him and actually he was from Surabaya, Indonesia ….OMG……. I asked to him “Is the bus true towards BSB Bus Terminal?” …..And  the answer was not. He said if I ride it, I would added away from BSB Bus Terminal and he suggested me to rode a taxi. Finally I was dropped at the shelter in front of a hospital.

I was trying to found a taxi …. but after waiting for 30 minutes, I can’t find a taxi. I asked to a man who sate in the parking lot of shopping complex. Actually he was from Brebes, Indonesia….Nice…. he said that taxis in Brunei must order by phone if time was past 17 o’clock…. ulala….I never bought a local SIM Card when travelling (I just rely to compass and a map… it’s free).

    Breakfast

I went to Pasar Tamu Kianggeh again because it was near dormitory. I think the food price will be cheap at every traditional market .

Exactly … 1.5 Brunei dollars was enough for this meal

    Nurul Iman Palace

After breakfast, I went to BSB Bus Terminal to found bus no. 42 towards Nurul Iman Palace. Only paid 1 dollar Brunei and took time for 15 minutes to reached it.

Arriving at Nurul Iman Palace, I headed to guard post and dared to asked the guard. He said, we couldn’t get in and finally I asked permission to took some pictures in front of the palace gate. He politely invited.

Failed to Tasek Lama Recreational Park

I took some photo at Nurul Iman Palace for 30 minutes, after it, I intend to went to Tasek Lama Recreational Park …. For that, I must back to BSB bus terminal.

From BSB Bus Terminal, I took bus no 36.

During the trip, I was doubtedly …. between still went to Taman Tasek Lama or directly went to Airport. Considering about waiting time of  bus in Brunei was very long.  I thought after visiting Taman Tasek Lama, I didn’t certainly get bus quickly. Instead of I missed the plane to Jakarta, better I decided to canceled to Taman Tasek Lama and directly went to airport and would killed time there. My boarding time was very close…. at 3pm I must boarding.

I told to bus driver who could speak Javanese fluently to delivered me to airport. I must say it to him, because when firstly I got into bus, I asked him to delivered me at nearest street with Taman Tasek Lama.

    Finally I arrived at airport:

Dzuhur …. airport mosque is a separate building from the airport …. adjacent each other.

Towards check-in, Erza went back to dormitory because he has a day more in Brunei and would continue to Philippines.

Okay, the trip was near to the end.

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Air Asia plane was full seat … apparently many tourists from Kuala Lumpur came to Brunei for two days, Saturday and Sunday …. maybe abaout distance of them were close.

The things must you needed to knew, checking weight and size of cabin baggages at airport was very strict. Cabin Baggages should be measured and weighed one by one. If any excess or size of baggages was too large for cabin regulation, you must ready for spent more cost to brought your bag in plane’s hull.

So ….. I was flying back to Jakarta and transit at Kuala Lumpur …. tomorrow Monday  must work again ..

    THE END

Gw langsung menuju ke konter check-in.

    KLM

    Liliana Natsir

Disaat akhir mau boarding….muncul Liliyana Natsir….Juara bulu tangkis ganda campuran kita gaes.

    interior klm

Interiornya sih biasa ya gaes….hanya perasaan aja seneng banget naik pesawat milik Air France.

Sepanjang perjalanan Gw mendapatkan sebuah tisu basah hangat untuk pembasuh muka, vegetarian pie yang seporsinya cukup untuk menggantikan dinner Gw (lumayan kan hemat budget) dan segelas apple juice.

Dan sepanjang perjalanan Gw melihat film Dunkirk….Ga tau ya kenapa Gw suka film ini. Gw sampai nonton sampai 4x.

    https://travelingpersecond.wordpress.com/2018/05/17/rute-baru-menuju-batu-caves-malaysia/

    Stasiun LRT Masjid Jamek

    Kedai Panettone….Pemiliknya keturunan India.
    Mienya yahuut….layak dicoba.
Penampakan menu Penang White Curry Bowl.
Penampakan asli Penang White Curry Bowl.

    Harga dewasa 12 Ringgit….Harga anak-anak 7 Ringgit.
